  • EU and India have joined hands against Terrorism and Radicalisation in a recent summit in Brussels on 30th March, 2016.
  • During the recent India- EU summit on 30th march, 2016, two countries were agreed to promote Sustainable Water Management, Clean Energy and Smart Cities.
  • Ambassador Manjeev Singh Puri of India and vice President Jonathan Taylor of the European Investment Bank have signed the Lucknow metro loan agreement.
  • Australian prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has announced that fresh elections is going to be held on 2nd July, 2016.

National News:-

  • President Pranab Mukherjee has given his assent on the Sikh Gurdwaras Amendment Act, 2016 on 5th May, 2016.
  • UP’s first cybercrime centre is set open in Noida, which is going to be inaugurated on 9th May, 2016.This cell is equipped with state-of-the-art tools to tackle cases related to financial fraud and data theft.
  • The Indian Naval Air Squadron 300, White Tigers are set to include the Mig29K/Kub fighters.

  • In a recent summit, 30th March, 2016  EU and India were agreed to increase links and creating synergies between the ‘Digital India’ initiative and the EU’s ‘Digital Single Market’.
  • During the EU and India summit which was held on 30th march, 2016, both the countries were agreed to establish the Common Agenda and Mobility(CAMM).
  • The Centre has asked all its departments and State government to widen the scope of DBT(Direct Benefit Transfer) scheme to include all monetary and in-kind transfers to beneficiaries; like NGOs and other assisting in implementation of the DBT programme.The DBT was launched by 1st January, 2013.

  • The movie “The Blind Side”  is based On the real tale of Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy who adopted  homeless Michael “Big Mike” Oher- teenage African American. Michael get some NCAA  division-I athletic scholarship and  is picked up by the Baltimore Ravens in the very first sound of the 2009 NFL Draft. Sandra Bullock won the Academy award for the best actress for her role as Leigh Anne Tuohy.
  • Bijukumar Damodaran had won the National award for Valiya Chirakulla Pakshikal(Birds with Large Wings),this movie highlights the damage caused by the extensive use of pesticides endosulfan in the cashew nut plantations of Kasaragod Kerala.
  • Visitors came at Rabindranath Tagore’s ancestral house at Jorasanko on 8th May, 2016 on the occasion of his 156th birth anniversary.
  • The Habitat Film Festival, being organised in Delhi till 15th May, 2016 and will end with screening of the well- received film “Angry Indian Goddesses”.`
